TIP OF THE MONTH:

November 2011

Found an interesting Web site full of information on casting and ceramic tips. After having problems with a slip flashing with no paint or glaze on it, I was doing research.

Anyhow, my conclusion of the porcelain slip flashing is this: It's a slip that cannot be thinned down with distilled water and a thinner from the manufacturer must be used. The seams weren't bad after removing the cast pieces from the molds, so I used a wet brush to clean each item off and have used this cleaning technique many times before on other brands of porcelain slip. By doing this type of cleaning, maybe that's how the flashing occurred.

This tip is based off of my opinion and hope it can help you if you are having difficulties finding good slip.

Have been on a porcelain slip experiment. A sample was offered from New York Doll Products so I tried it. Expecting this slip to end up being what Seeley's was after their's became unable to work with, I was shocked. This porcelain slip is amazing and sets up quick and easy to clean.

The Porcelain Place has huge selection of beautiful color slips.

So, my choices of porcelain slips are:
